Il a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le important pendant la premi\u00e8re guerre de l\u2019opium contre l\u2019Angleterre. Consid\u00e9rant que les Britanniques essayaient d\u2019imposer la vente de leur&nbsp;\u00ab&nbsp;poison&nbsp;\u00bb aux Chinois, il ordonna la destruction des stocks d\u2019opium entrepos\u00e9s \u00e0 Canton en 1840, ce qui conduisit \u00e0 la guerre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lin Zexu mourut le 22 novembre 1850. Il est aujourd\u2019hui consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un h\u00e9ros national en Chine.
